    Stage Left is comprised of live versions of songs from Rush’s second quartet of LPs, A Farewell to Kings (), Hemispheres (), Permanent Waves (), and Moving Pictures (). Given that Moving Pictures is the band’s finest album, there seems to be a lot of quality material a lot to draw upon for Exit.

    Rush had made extensive recordings of their UK Permanent Waves Tour with the intention of releasing a live album following the tour. However, they had so many ideas from soundcheck jams that they scrapped the live album and headed into the studio for what was to become Moving Pictures. Some of these recordings made it onto Exit, Stage /5().
